The Pretty Reckless have released a new version of “About You,” featuring Foo Fighters members Dave Grohl and Pat Smear. Titled “About You (Bonus Version),” the track revisits a song from the rock band’s fifth studio album, Dear God, released in June. Grohl contributes drums, guitar and backing vocals, while Smear adds guitar to the reworked recording.
The bonus version retains the song’s rock foundation, while adding Grohl’s vocals alongside TPR’s frontwoman Taylor Momsen – including a shared chorus and a back-and-forth vocal passage in the bridge. Momsen said she wanted to give the song special treatment by bringing in the two musicians“: ‘About You’ is one of my favorite songs on the record, so I wanted to do something special. I called Dave and Pat and asked them if they’d lend their magic to it. It was an amazing time in the studio making music, there’s nothing better than jamming with friends. I couldn’t be happier with the result,” Momsen said.
The band also released a video for the updated track, which takes fans behind the scenes on the road and in the studio. Momsen shares: “we wanted to give you a glimpse into our world, from life on the road to moments we share in the studio. ‘About You (Bonus Version)’ is a little piece of that journey. But at the core, it is all about YOU. The fans who make it all possible. You’re the real stars of this one and we thank you”
The release of ‘About You (Bonus Version)‘ follows a busy year for The Pretty Reckless, whose Dear God album includes “When I Wake Up” and “For I Am Death.” The band is scheduled to begin a U.K. and European headline tour in November before joining Foo Fighters for two concerts in India in January 2027.
