Greta Van Fleet returns with the track ‘Play Your Games’

Greta Van Fleet dropped their latest track and accompanying music video for “Play Your Games,” serving as the Grammy-winning band’s first official studio release since their 2023 full-length album, Starcatcher.

The studio track was recorded in Tennessee under the guidance of producer Mike Elizondo, known for his previous work with artists such as Turnstile and Fiona Apple. According to the band, the arrangement was adapted from a long-shelved archival recording that dates back to the group’s earliest development. Guitarist Jake Kiszka noted that the single draws heavily on spontaneity, stating, “It’s this beautiful nature of seizing a moment.”

The release follows the Michigan-formed group’s recent return to live performance, when they played an unannounced club show at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City. The concert marked their first public stage appearance since late 2024. During the performance, the band previewed the track live for the first time alongside another unreleased song titled “Tear It Down.”

Reflecting on the return to the stage, lead vocalist Josh Kiszka stated, “to take the stage again and share new music feels profoundly emotional and exciting. To see people singing and celebrating in this moment is a reminder of the power of music, and there’s so much more to come.”
