Thrash metal veterans Anthrax have released “Everybody’s Got A Plan,” the third single from their upcoming album Cursum Perficio, offering fans another preview of the band’s first full-length studio effort since 2016’s For All Kings. The 12th studio album is scheduled for release Sept. 18, marking the end of the band’s longest gap between studio albums.
Everybody’s Got A Plan follows the release of the album’s lead single “It’s For The Kids” as well as the track The Edge of Perfection, which arrived alongside a music video directed by Academy Award-winning makeup artist and filmmaker Joel Harlow. That visual blended cinematic storytelling with performance footage as its protagonist descends into a dark, supernatural world.
The video for Everybody’s Got A Plan was filmed primarily on July 7th in Lisbon, Portugal, while Anthrax was touring with Iron Maiden in Europe. The visual features live performance footage, as well as behind-the-scenes backstage clips. Drummer Charlie Benante shares that “‘Everybody’s Got a Plan’ has always been one of my favorite songs on Cursum Perficio. The video basically shows the band on and off stage in a montage of video clips that kinda matches the velocity of the song. ‘Everybody’s got a plan/That’s until they get punched in the face’ is such a great line, and so true!” Guitarist Scott Ian noted that “most of this video was shot opening for [Iron] Maiden in Lisbon, Portugal at Estádio da Lu on July 7, 2026 … We wanted to capture us having fun on tour and what better way to do that? That was a plan that didn’t end up with a punch in the face! Have fun watching my friends!” And bassist Frank Bello added that “this video is a great representation of a day in the life of Anthrax on tour.”
Cursum Perficio was co-produced by the band and longtime collaborator Jay Ruston after a development process that stretched back several years and included pandemic-related delays. The 11-song collection was recorded at Foo Fighters’ Studio 606 and features additional tracks including “Persistence of Memory,” “Infectious,” “NYC 93” and the title track. Anthrax will also be on the road in support of the album with a series of high-profile live appearances beginning in September, including festival dates and stadium performances in North America following an extensive European run.
