U2’s newly released song, “Street of Dreams,” has taken on a second role beyond the band’s upcoming album, serving as the centerpiece of a new short film featuring Sir David Beckham.
Released by Bank of America in conjunction with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the film follows a young girl whose dream of playing soccer endures despite the challenges of homelessness, highlighting themes of resilience, hope and the life-changing impact of sport.
Beckham appears throughout the film as a guiding presence encouraging the girl, played by newcomer Nevaeh Derricks, while U2 makes an appearance near the conclusion. The project pairs the emotional storyline with the band’s latest single, which marks U2’s first new music from an upcoming studio album in nine years. Produced by Jacknife Lee, the song reunites Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. as the Irish rock group approaches its 50th anniversary later this year.
Upon its release, “Street of Dreams” arrived alongside the official music video for the track. Filmed in Mexico City, thousands of fans gathered to watch the band perform atop a graffiti-covered bus. When production was briefly interrupted when a thunderstorm knocked out the power, it prompted a nearby family to invite the band onto their apartment balcony, allowing filming to continue in an impromptu setting that has become one of the video’s defining moments.
