Lainey Wilson has released her latest single “Phone, Keys, Wallet,” featuring guest guitar work from John Mayer. The song continues Wilson’s momentum following the success of her album Whirlwind and its deluxe edition, which included the No. 1 hit “Somewhere Over Laredo.”
Written during the final stretch of Wilson’s Whirlwind World Tour and recorded at Mayer’s Chaplin Studios in Los Angeles, the track centers on navigating a hectic lifestyle while appreciating a partner who remains supportive through life’s unpredictability. Mayer contributes guitar throughout the recording, marking a new collaboration between the two artists.
Discussing the song, Wilson said, “I feel like a tornado with boots on half the time, and this song is really about finding somebody who’s okay with that chaos and chooses to love you through it anyway.”
“Phone, Keys, Wallet” follows Wilson’s recent releases “Younger You,” recorded with Miley Cyrus, and “Can’t Sit Still.” The new single had been teased for weeks through a Nashville billboard campaign that invited fans to text a number to help Wilson “find” her missing phone, keys and wallet, offering a preview of the song in return.
The new single arrives during a high-profile stretch for the Louisiana native. Earlier this year, Wilson headlined the Stagecoach music festival and became the subject of a Netflix documentary, Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool. Additionally, she recently made her feature film acting debut in an adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel Reminders of Him.
