Ozzy Osbourne’s final live performance will reach movie theaters around the world next month. Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning, produced by Mercury Studios and distributed by Trafalgar Releasing, will receive a limited global theatrical run beginning Oct. 28, giving audiences an opportunity to experience Osbourne’s farewell concert on the big screen. The concert had previously been livestreamed worldwide and was staged as a farewell to both Osbourne and the pioneering heavy metal group.
The film captures the July 5, 2025, Back to the Beginning event at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, Osbourne’s hometown. The sold-out concert marked his final appearance onstage, coming just 17 days before his death at age 76. It also brought together the original Black Sabbath lineup — Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward — for the first time in more than two decades
The daylong event also featured performances from a broad lineup of rock and metal acts, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Pantera, Slayer, Tool, Alice in Chains, Gojira and Anthrax, among others. Osbourne also performed a solo set before returning to the stage with Black Sabbath for the band’s final performance.
The theatrical version was directed for the screen by Ben Wainwright-Pearce, with the concert itself directed by Tim van Someren. The production was specifically prepared for cinemas and will feature Dolby Atmos and 5.1 surround sound. Along with the performances, the film includes behind-the-scenes footage and reflections from artists influenced by Osbourne and Black Sabbath. Sharon Osbourne has said the concert fulfilled a final wish for her husband, explaining, “Back to the Beginning came about because I asked Ozzy what would really make him happy,” before adding that he wanted to perform again, say goodbye to his fans and thank them.
