Sheryl Crow and John Legend will headline the musical lineup for CBS’ inaugural “America’s Tailgate on CBS,” a new two-hour special celebrating the start of the NFL season. The Nashville-based event will air Monday, Sept. 7, from 8 to 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and stream on Paramount+, with Chase Rice and Gabby Barrett also set to perform.
The special will be hosted by Nate Burleson, the CBS Sports and “CBS Mornings” personality, with CBS Sports’ Melanie Collins serving as co-host. Comedian Whitney Cummings will appear as a correspondent, while NFL MVP Josh Allen, who is also an executive producer of the program, is among the featured guests. “The NFL Today” analysts Kyle Long and Russell Wilson are also scheduled to appear.
Designed as a Labor Day celebration ahead of football’s opening week, the program will combine live music with football, food and fan-focused segments. Chef Keith Corbin will take part in outdoor cooking features, while Canadian flag football gold medalists Sara Parker and Caro Moquin-Joubert will participate in skills challenges. The special will also spotlight NFL superfans from around the country.
“The best thing about summer ending is football starting, and America’s Tailgate delivers on celebrating that awesome moment in sport, culture and fun,” Jesse Sisgold, president of Paramount Sports Entertainment and Skydance Sports, said in a statement. He described the Nashville event as a gathering of music, food, football and fans.
“America’s Tailgate on CBS” is produced by Skydance Sports, NFL Films, EverWonder Studio, Lost Tribe Studio and Down Home. Executive producers include Allen, Sisgold and representatives from the participating production companies, as well as country star Tim McGraw. The program will air nationally on CBS and be available through Paramount+.
