Taylor Momsen will join Soundgarden for a special halftime performance when the Seattle Seahawks open their 2026 season against the New England Patriots on Sept. 9 at Lumen Field in Seattle. The surviving members of the influential Seattle grunge band — guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron — will perform with Momsen, the lead singer of The Pretty Reckless, while Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready will also participate.
The game will be a rematch of Super Bowl LX, in which Seattle defeated New England 29-13 to claim the NFL championship. McCready is also scheduled to perform the national anthem before the game on behalf of the Washington Innocence Project, a Seahawks Spirit of 12 partner. The matchup is scheduled for 5:20 p.m. PDT and will air nationally on NBC.
The Seahawks performance will mark another reunion between Momsen, McCready and Soundgarden following the band’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November 2025. Momsen and McCready performed alongside the surviving members during the ceremony, with Momsen among the singers who helped cover the material of the late Chris Cornell, Soundgarden’s longtime frontman who died in 2017.
The halftime appearance will be one of Soundgarden’s rare live performances since Cornell’s death. The surviving members have also been working on an album incorporating vocals Cornell recorded before his death; Cameron said recently that the project had reached the mixing stage.
The Seahawks’ opening-night entertainment will extend beyond halftime. Country star Luke Bryan is scheduled to headline a pregame kickoff concert at Lumen Field’s North Lot at 2:30 p.m. PDT, three hours before the game.
