Joan Jett & The Blackhearts celebrate 45 years of ‘I Love Rock ’N Roll’ with anniversary reissue

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts are marking the 45th anniversary of their breakthrough album I Love Rock ’N Roll with a newly remastered anniversary edition arriving Aug. 28 through Blackheart Records. The reissue will be available on CD and 180-gram opaque sky-blue vinyl, giving fans a refreshed version of one of rock’s defining albums while honoring a record that helped cement Jett’s place among the genre’s most influential artists.

Originally released in 1981, I Love Rock ’N Roll became a commercial and cultural milestone, propelled by its iconic title track, which spent seven consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and has since become one of rock music’s most recognizable anthems. The album ultimately sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and also featured the Top 10 hit “Crimson and Clover,” along with fan favorites including “(I’m Gonna) Run Away,” “Love Is Pain” and “Victim of Circumstance.” The anniversary edition retains the original track listing, including the live B-side recording of “You Don’t Know What You’ve Got.”

The reissue continues a broader celebration of Jett’s early catalog following this year’s 45th-anniversary edition of Bad Reputation. Both albums have received updated physical releases as Jett continues touring in 2026, highlighting a career that spans more than four decades. A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Jett remains an active performer, bringing the landmark albums back into the spotlight for longtime fans and a new generation of listeners.

Preorders for the anniversary edition are now available through Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ official store, with the release packaged as both a collectible vinyl pressing and standard CD. The reissue underscores the enduring legacy of an album whose signature single continues to resonate more than four decades after its release, reaffirming I Love Rock ’N Roll as one of rock’s most enduring and influential recordings.
