In This Moment has announced its ninth studio album, Witch, which is scheduled for release Aug. 28 through Better Noise Music. The record marks the group’s first full-length album for the label, and arrives alongside the debut of its latest single, “Crawl,” along with an accompanying music video directed by Michael Lombardi. The announcement follows the recent release of “Sleeping With The Enemy,” signaling the beginning of the band’s next creative chapter.
Frontwoman Maria Brink described Witch as a deeply personal project centered on transformation and resilience, saying the album explores embracing life’s hardships and turning them into strength. Regarding the new single, Brink said, “Crawl” is a reckoning — a reflection that those who dominate and cause pain will ultimately reap what they sow. As above, so below. The fall is inevitable. Bearing witness to the harm they inflict, the song declares that those who once stood tall will be brought to their knees.” Co-founder and guitarist Chris Howorth added that the song examines cycles of oppression while encouraging listeners to stand up against abuse of power.
The 11-track album blends new material with several notable collaborations, including appearances by Dayseeker on “I Want To Believe,” Kim Dracula on “Heretic,” and Kat Von D on a reimagining of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall.” The album also features the previously released “Sleeping With The Enemy” alongside “Crawl,” continuing the band’s signature fusion of cinematic production, heavy riffs and melodic hooks that has helped earn more than 2 billion career streams.
