Slipknot’s longtime DJ and keyboardist Sid Wilson has been dismissed from the band after nearly three decades. TMZ reported that Wilson, who joined the masked metal group in 1998 before the release of its self-titled debut album, was informed of the decision late this week. Neither Wilson nor the band has officially confirmed the reported split, and no reason for the alleged departure has been announced.
The reports prompted an indirect response from guitarist Jim Root, who urged fans not to rush to judgment. In a message shared on social media, Root wrote, “Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think.” He also suggested fans wait for additional information before drawing conclusions, fueling speculation that the full story has yet to emerge. Slipknot has otherwise remained silent on the reports.
Wilson’s exit marks another significant lineup change for the Grammy-winning band, which has experienced multiple personnel shifts over the years. Wilson contributed to every Slipknot studio album, including 2022’s The End, So Far and the long-delayed Look Outside Your Window, released earlier this year. His departure would further reduce the number of longtime members still in the lineup following previous exits and the deaths of bassist Paul Gray and drummer Joey Jordison.
The reported dismissal also comes during a difficult period in Wilson’s personal life. Earlier this year, he and Kelly Osbourne ended their engagement after several years together. The former couple share a young son and had become engaged in 2025 during Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert. While fans continue to await an official statement from either Wilson or Slipknot, the reported move has sparked widespread discussion about the band’s latest chapter and its evolving lineup.
