Green Day share video for “I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.” from ‘NIMRODS’ soundtrack

Green Day has released the official video for its new song, “I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.,” the latest preview of the upcoming NIMRODS original soundtrack. The 30-track collection is scheduled for release July 31 in digital, CD, cassette and multiple vinyl formats.

The newly released “I’m Never Gonna R.I.P.” accompanies the soundtrack announcement with an official music video and serves as Green Day’s latest original recording tied to the project. In addition to the new song, the soundtrack features Green Day classics including “Basket Case,” “Brain Stew,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends” and “Good Riddance,” as well as exclusive live performances recorded for the film.

The soundtrack combines the 22 songs spanning the band’s career with the newly released single, four previously unreleased live recordings from the group’s Los Angeles Palladium performance and contributions from The Paradox, Ultra Q, Mckenna Grace and the fictional band Analog Dogs.

Written and directed by Lee Kirk, NIMRODS follows three young friends who mistakenly believe their band has been invited to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve, prompting a cross-country road trip to Los Angeles. Inspired by the band’s early years touring in a van, the coming-of-age comedy stars Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust and Mckenna Grace, with appearances by Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool, who also serve as producers alongside Tim Perell.
