Alanis Morissette sets four-night Los Angeles run of “Butterfly with a Machete” this November

Alanis Morissette will bring her stage production “Butterfly with a Machete” to Los Angeles this fall, extending the project that debuted during her sold-out Las Vegas residency in 2025. The four-show engagement is scheduled for Nov. 5, 6, 10 and 11 at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, marking the venue’s first residency.

The seven-time Grammy winner produces, performs and co-wrote the show, which blends live music with storytelling, theatrical elements and multimedia presentation. Rather than a traditional concert, the production follows Morissette’s journey from her early years in Ottawa to international stardom, while examining the personal challenges that accompanied her rise in the music industry.

According to descriptions released with the announcement, “Butterfly with a Machete” combines Morissette’s catalog with reflections on fame, trauma, healing and personal growth. The production incorporates narrative segments and therapeutic themes alongside live performances, offering an autobiographical look at key moments from her career and life.

The Los Angeles dates follow the success of the Las Vegas run, where the show featured material spanning Morissette’s career, including a strong focus on songs from her breakthrough 1995 album Jagged Little Pill. The singer is also scheduled to appear at Riot Fest in Chicago in September and will perform a series of European dates before returning to California for the residency.
